DIRECTIONS
We Have Over 1200 Wines In Stock and Over 600 Varieties of Beer from over 50 countries in Our Walk-In Cooler.
We have wines from all the major wine regions of the world. This includes a great selection of Oregon Pinot Noirs, and more wines from specialized regions like the Middle East.

Please visit our walk-in beer cooler at the back of the store. You'll find it is one of the largest in Portland, with over 600 choices - and they are all cold. Our local microbreweries love us because we treat their beer right! Keeping beer cold preserves the flavors and extends the shelf life. It also means it's ready right now for your sipping pleasure.

Wine Tastings

Gnarley, hairy reds only a Father would like...

During my 3 years here at Barbur, I've been given the opportunity to hand-select over 1,200 different wines. Unlike many stores, we keep a very large selection of wine in case stacks at affordable prices. If you need a case today, we've got 60 different case stacks to choose from. In addition to wines from the more famous growing regions of the world, our diverse customer base demands wines from very unique regions, including Lebanon, Georgia, and Croatia. We truly have something for everyone in our very eclectic wine set. I became enamored with wine in the late '70s when my wife and I took a series of wine classes from the now infamous "Frugal Gourmet". We tasted the best wines in the world in these classes (such as Chateau Lafite-Rothschild and Chateau d'Yquem), and became totally infatuated with the culture and aesthetics of fine wine as a result.

I have enhance my knowledge of fine wine on your behalf, by visiting the major wine regions of the world, including France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, and had the good fortune to meet yearly with a group of wine professionals to blind taste the major Oregon Pinots Noirs of the current vintages. While enjoying beer since my early college days, my formal experience in the beer world began at the same time as my formal wine experience, since I have always been responsible for the beer selections at the stores where I have worked. The most important advice I can give to my customers is: trust your own palate, drink what you enjoy, but be adventuresome; your tastes will change over time.    - Jack
